It’s been such a disappointing experience working with EXS design. I’d come across the company through some online reviews, and got in touch. The initial steps of dealing with them, getting the understanding of our requirement, 3D design all went fine. We were then put through the joinery team (who demanded 80% before starting the work) and EXS assured us about this company being reliable. We were hesitant but were assured that it’s normal for all contractors to be paid 80% upfront as part of their onboarding. We made the transfer end of November 2024 and were given completion date of around 3 weeks (ensuring before Christmas works will be completed). From there started a long follow up and battle on procurement of materials and commencement of joinery works. Eventually the works only started in the 2nd week of Jan. We were then assured that within 10 days the works will be completed. After 10 days the team starts stalling as their outsourced team has issues. They kept delaying and stalling with multiple aspects. With every step of the way EXS was kept in the loop. When we questioned EXS on their choice of this contractor they kept saying “Have you ever dealt with a turnkey contractor? This is how they operate. I realise EXS are designers but the below points are just unacceptable: * Recommending a contractor that doesnt keep up with time frames * Once the joinery team was on site in February, EXS sent a team member who overlooked all incorrect measurements * We had 5 different components of work out of which only 1 was as per the drawing so why was this approved on site by EXS team * Finishing was absolute rubbish and overlooked by EXS team * Our 1 simple request to EXS was that we need the areas to be baby proof as we have an 18 month baby. This was by far the most important aspect of us doing works and this was completely overlooked. Rough finishes, wires hanging from sockets freely, drawers not having safety locks, door stoppers not put, sharp edges, inc...
